Hand-eye coordination is critical in tennis. Successfully hitting high overheads, strong volleys and powerful ground strokes requires excellent timing and technique. In other words, contrary to what you might think, it’s not about strength or forcefulness.
Here is my A List for drills you can use on and off the court to hone your hand-eye coordination:
1.Feel drills by Top Tennis Training
2.Use a reaction ball – the random bounce improves timing and depth perception
3.Practice volleys against a wall – the closer you get the harder it gets
4.High toss – throw a tennis ball or baseball or racquetball as high in the air as you can and catch it on the way down. Make it harder by using one hand at a time.
6.Play catch – you can do this with a partner or against a wall
7.Quiet eye technique – or controlling your gaze. Practice watching the ball for one extra second during your shots.
